In Chapter 9, why is Brad sweeping?

Atlas is confused when he finishes a call with Lily and finds Brad sweeping. The kitchen is cleaned after closing, and the floor does not need sweeping. Brad tells him he is pretending to sweep. He wants Theo to clean up the mess outside from the vandal since Theo hates it so much.
