In Chapter 11, why does Atlas cancel the reservation he has at a restaurant?

By the time Atlas gets off the phone while he is driving, Lily has fallen asleep. She is still sleeping when he gets to the restaurant. He reads a couple of entries in her journal. When he sees she is not waking up, he cancels their restaurant so she can sleep and he can read more journal entries.
