Ishi decides to go to the museum with the Stranger because he believes that the Yahi world is dead. He does not want to go to the reservation because he has been told that the people who live there have are lazy and have forgotten the Way. Since the Stranger speaks his language and has become his friend, Ishi decides that going to the museum is his best option. When he discovers that the museum is near the Outer Ocean, Ishi is reminded of his Dream, which strengthens his decision.
