How does Layla’s second article get out of Mobius?

Layla takes her second article to the Mess to meet David with the garbage crew again, but the Director is coming, and Jake takes the article from her. The Director wants her to tell him who wrote the first article, but she does not tell him. Jake gets Fred to take the second article out of the camp.
