Why is the rain scene cut from the Broadway script?

The Broadway production will not include the romantic rain scene at the end of the play, because the producer does not believe the uptown crowd can handle lesbian love, even though the downtown crowd raved about the play. The producer believes the Broadway audiences can handle a brothel but not lesbian love.
