What does Virginia say that shocks Dorothee?

Viriginia admits to Dorothee that this is her first production and hopes to shock her parents. This surprises Dorothee but what truly shocks her is that Virginia is very comfortable saying the word lesbian and even asks if they should practice kissing before they have to do it in front of everyone. Virginia also says that, although she has no acting training, being at an all-girls’ school may have prepared her for this role.
