Peretz is a member of the circle of writers, or salon, that is the first audience for "...Vengeance." He is portrayed as being conservative, religious, and determined that theatrical stories present Judaism in an unquestioningly positive light. He is the character who tells the frustrated Asch that he should burn the script for "...Vengeance," an idea that is repeated in various contexts throughout the narrative of Indecent.
