Madge as character?

Madje is Sholem Asch's wife. She is portrayed as being loving, supportive, and open-minded. Her reaction to reading the first draft of "The Rain Scene" in "...Vengeance" is the first indication in Indecent of how important and meaningful the scene is. She continues to be a supportive presence in Asch's life throughout Indecent, even in the final scene. There, when both characters are middle-aged, she attempts to re-awaken Asch's passion for the play and its themes, but does not succeed.
