Duke Roger of Conte is Jonathan's older cousin and heir to the throne if something should happen to the prince. Roger is the most powerful sorcerer in the Realm and doesn't hesitate to use magic as he attempts to kill "Alan," the Prince and the Queen. Roger leads the army against Tusaine and seems to be the model commander and Duke. He casts a veiling spell over the Court so that no one can see that he is trying to kill the royal family and steal the throne.
