Who is Joel Jones from the memoir, In the Dream House?

Joel Jones was the pastor Machado writes of becoming inappropriately close to in "Dream House as Bildungsroman." Jones traveled with the author's youth group to South Africa on a mission. During the mission, the two began discussing personal issues, and this continued when they returned to the U.S. Machado writes of meeting Jones frequently in diners at 2 a.m., and how he told her about the problems in his marriage (despite the fact that she was a teenager ostensibly coming to him for spiritual guidance). When Machado went to college and had her first sexual experience, she immediately called Jones, who told her to "Ask for forgiveness" (34). Shortly thereafter, she learned he had been fired from the church for having an affair with a parishioner.
