About what does Miah think while he is in his room at his father's home?

Miah first thinks about Ellie and the afternoon they spent together in Central Park. The sounds coming from outside attract his attention. Girls are counting and a boy is practicing basketball. The sound of the boy practicing takes Miah back to his childhood learning to perfect his skills on the court.
