Since Fonny lives so close to the Spanish restaurant, he becomes good friends with the people who run it. When Fonny is put in jail, the owners and works at the restaurant take care of Tish. They drive her to and from her visits with Fonny, they make her food, and they keep her company. She says that they help her get through a very difficult time in her life.
