What is the author's style in Iceberg by Clive Cussler?

The book is written in the third person point of view of the major character, Dirk Pitt. Information is provided from many other sources through conversations with Sandecker, Lillie, etc., in order to give Pitt direction and purpose throughout the novel, and to keep him on track in the investigation. The world and action is seen through the eyes of a man who holds his true feelings deep inside, and uses sarcasm and jokes to convey his thoughts to others. The thoughts of others are shown only through their actions and dialogue surrounding Pitt, as the reader stays with Pitt throughout the book.

Pitt does not change in character throughout the book. The purpose of seeing the plot through his eyes is to allow the mystery to unfold in the manner of a police procedural, with Pitt uncovering clues and tracing evidence while fending off danger and rescuing everyone.
