Hal Sperlich worked under Iacocca when he became head of the Ford Division, and eventually followed him to Chrysler. He was instrumental in producing the original Mustang and the Mustang II as well as being Ford's top product planner. Sperlich was fired in 1976 on the orders of Henry Ford. Iacocca was given no choice in the matter.
