What is an important theme in the novel, I Will Call It Georgie’s Blues?

A major theme throughout this novel is the difference between real and false, reality versus make-believe, and the public in contrast to the private lives of people. The problems within the Sloan family have existed for some time, unknown to any outside the family. It is the changes in Georgie which bring them to a head and make them public.
