I Who Have Never Known Men
What does the bunker represent to the narrator in the novel, I Who Have Never Known Men?
.
.
The bunker in which the narrator lives out the remainder of her life symbolizes freedom. In this space, the narrator is beholden to no one. She can travel at her leisure, can read for hours, can bathe, sleep, and eat however she chooses. However, this version of freedom also proves empty, in that the narrator has no one with whom to share it.
