What happens when Henri hands John a Loric crystal in the novel, I Am Number Four?

When Henri hands the crystal to John, his hands come on even brighter than before, and John sees a swirling cloud mass as the rock heats up, along with the Loric charm he wears. It is tied to John's Legacy and his touch activates it. Henri tells him to relax, and allow his mind to take him wherever it will as Henri runs the crystal slowly up John's arms, training his body to ignore the heat.
