Who is Dr. Calvin?

Dr. Susan Calvin is a robopsychologist who works at US Robots and Mechanical Men. It is Dr. Calvin’s job to make the robots seem more like humans. Dr. Calvin has worked for US Robots most of her adult life and is now at retirement age. Dr. Calvin is speaking with a reporter to whom she tells stories about the development of robots through the years.

Dr. Calvin is a very serious person who has a tight focus on her job. Dr. Calvin never really mentions her private life except in one story in which she admits to having feelings for a younger colleague whom she hoped had feelings for her as well. She later learned that rumors of his feelings for her were lies told her by a robot who was attempting to not break the first law of robotics by hurting her feelings.
