Consider hubris and superiority. In several of the stories of robots told by Dr. Calvin, robots feel as though they are superior to humans. One of these stories, the story of Cutie, takes a robot that has become self-aware and believes itself to be so superior to humans that there is no way a human could have made it. Instead, this robot believes a simple machine has to be its creator rather than these frail humans made of flesh and bone.
In another story, Dr. Calvin is sent to find a robot that has a modified first law that has disappeared among other robots of its make. This robot also has a sense that it is so superior to humans that it can outwit the humans and hide among the robots permanently. Dr. Calvin proves this not to be the case, and the robot becomes violent.
A sense of superiority is a character flaw that is found not only in robots, but among humans as well. Conceit and a lack of empathy make the robots dangerous. It is important that the sense of superiority and its harmful effects are pointed out in the story.
