Who is the antagonist in I'll Be Seeing You by Lurlene McDaniel?

The main antagonist in the novel is the cruelty with which people treat those who are different. In this instance, people are cruel and cold toward a young woman who has suffered through and survived cancer, only to be left disfigured and an outcast amongst her peers.
