Who is Charles Fairfax from Human Croquet and what is their importance?

Charles is Isobel's brother. He is a short man with red hair. The color of his hair leads his grandmother to question his parentage. Unfortunately, Charles isn't very smart either..... he is also lacking in social skills. Over the course of the novel, however, we learn that Charles does go onto become a successful man and well known director.
