Pippa's character serves as a symbol of the dangers of extremism when no one is willing to stand in the way. As a rebel, Pippa's entire world revolves around overthrowing the Asteri. Yet, she becomes so invested in killing all of the Vanir that the rebel's true goal becomes less important than her wish to punish the Vanir for the Asteri's rule. With the Ophion looking for victory no matter the cost, Pippa's extreme views begin to overwhelm the better future that the rebel's were originally fighting for.
