What is the resolution in "Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies"?

In the resolution, Hornblower and his wife look forward to and prepare for his retirement. Hudnutt has escaped and disappeared, and the couple readies themselves for their return to England. Unfortunately, the ship they're traveling in is blown off course by a hurricane and destroyed, the captain is killed, many of the men are lost and sea, but Hornblower manages to ties himself and Barbara to the mast, and when the storm is over, he manages to save a few of the men. They are then picked up by a passing ship..... taken to Puerto Rico and housed at the Governor's mansion, where they meet Hudnutt is a Spanish uniform. In the end, Barbara confesses to having paid someone to rescue Hudnutt and spirit him away. Hornblower forgives her..... and they live happily ever after..... or so they say.
