How did Lahcen make a living in Chapter 4?

Lahcen had invested money in phone cards. He resold individual minutes at a higher price to people who wanted make calls at pay phones. He worked out of the central post office in downtown Casablanca. He did not make much of a profit, but it was enough to pay for his bus fares and cigarettes.
