Whitewell is the primary setting in the novel. Whitewell College is the center of this small town in England. The school and town are primarily white, but there is a strong and deeply connected Nigerian community. The Black Student Union in the college playfully calls themselves "Blackwell," and the Blackwell students spend their weekends at their favorite spots in Whitewell, the club FreakyFridayz and Sweetest Ting. Kiki and Malikai both live off campus. Kiki's favorite place in the whole town is the library.
