Ingrid,Hold Still, is Caitlin's best friend who commits suicide their junior year. Ingrid kept a journal, which she leaves behind so that Caitlin will find it and read it. In the pages the reader, as well as Caitlin, sees that this was a tormented individual who was suffering from manic depression and clinical depression (undiagnosed). In the end, what the journal does for Caitlin is that it lets her realize that she is in no way responsible for her friend's death.
