Who is Sam Wakefield from Hocus Pocus and what is their importance?

Sam Wakefield is one of Father's friends. He's known Eugene since he was born. Sam is pro-military man and encourages Eugene to join, which Eugene does with Father's blessing. Sam is a follower, thus, he does well in Vietnam, moving up the ranks because he has the innate ability to look the other way and not see the atrocities that occur around him.
