The stories of the deaths and the death-poses of Jeremy's victims are told in graphic detail. For example, Jeremy kills one of his victims who he believes would have been a prolific producer of children and folds her in half, so that she's staring into the "cleft" between her legs. When he kills the private detective, he leaves the head in his father's freezer. He cuts off the head of one of his victims and reattaches it backwards. Some readers may find the violence detracts from the storyline but it's likely that most fans of this type of story will accept the author's depictions of the sheer evil of Jeremy Nyebern for what it is - Koontz at his best.
