Why has Maggie decided to write her story in the novel, Hide & Seek?

Part of the reason Maggie has decided to write her story is to get it straight in her own head. With not one but two murder accusations, Maggie must be questioning her judgement in men at the very least. Now, in an effort to pull herself together and explain herself correctly, she is bypassing the media frenzy to tell her story to the public in the hopes that her honesty makes a difference.
