Significance of the body

The body is a symbol of uncertainty. Tim and his parents are filled with grief and dread when they are told that the body of a young woman fitting Chelsea’s description was found by officers. They refuse to believe it is Chelsea until it is positively identified. Regardless, the family suffers some of the uncertainty that Lance and his mother know as they wait for an identification to be returned.
