Significance of Bright Yellow Dress

The bright yellow dress is a symbol of control. Chelsea’s abductor only gives her this dress because he reasons that she has earned it by respecting his wishes. It is a symbol of the control that the abductor has over Chelsea. If she does not behave the way he wants her to, he will take the dress away and leave her naked. The color of the dress also serves as a beacon. Her abductor believes that if Chelsea does manage to escape that he will be able to spot her easily in the bright dress.
