Who is Reverend Florence Tanner from Hell House and what is their importance?

Reverend Tanner has run the Temple of Spiritual Harmony for the past six years. At forty three, she still looked beautiful, with long red hair and a tall Junoesque figure that has changed little since her twenties. Her church is her strength.

She joins the group as a mentalist but to her surprise and everyone else's, she exhibits unexplainable ability to be a spiritualist and channel for the dead as well. This new talent is surprising, but she takes it as a gift from God, and gracefully agrees to continue sitting in order that Lionel can continue his scientific study of the house.
