Why is Marlow so obsessed with Kurtz?

Marlow is obsessed with Kurtz because the man is an enigma. What kind of man turns his back completely on the culture he once knew to move into the wild, uncivilized jungle..... ? Kurtz's story fascinates Marlow, it's beyond his comprehension, but it's also parallels Marlow's own vision of the jungle and his unexplained love for it.
