Why does Paige decide to go to Chicago after she impulsively leaves Nicholas and Max?

After fleeing Cambridge, Paige stops at Ruby's House of Fate in Pennsylvania, the home of a fortune-teller. Ruby tells Paige that her future is in her past. Paige thinks this means she is going to Chicago. Ruby agrees, telling her she will find her mother and that bad blood skips a generation. Finally, Ruby tells Paige that she needs to call Nicholas.
