What happens the day Nicholas goes to his parents' house to tell them about Max?

Paige pushes Nicholas to tell his parents about Max. He arrives at his parents' house with pictures of the baby in his pocket. Nicholas lets himself into the house so he does not have to face one of the servants, and finds his mother in her darkroom. Astrid is developing pictures she took in the Moab and having trouble with the color. Nicholas walks in and watches her for a moment, shocking her with his presence. Nicholas allows his mother to look him over before he announces that she has a grandchild. Astrid tries to keep Nicholas from leaving, she wants to talk. Nicholas hands her the pictures and storms from the house, not ready to forgive her yet.
