Claudius needs to address Hamlet's increasingly aggressive behavior toward his mother, the Queen, and Claudius himself. After Hamlet has the players enact "The Mousetrap," with its inherent accusations, he enrages King Claudius. Additionally, Hamlet attacks and frightens his mother, and in his blind rage, mistakenly kills Polonius who is listening behind the tapestry. This prompts Claudius to send Hamlet away to England to be executed.
