How does the author use foreshadowing in The Fall of Reach?

Even though the war between the Covenant and the Spartans has been waging for the last 10 years, it will reach a turning point as the novel unfolds. The prologue of the novel foreshadows the Chief putting his foot down and getting sick of the aliens killing off human colonies. It also foreshadows the Chief assembling a special crew to final win the war against the Covenant.
