How is Pearl both similar and different from her mother in the novel, Gun Love?

When her mother dies, Margot is forced into an entirely different life. She reacts to the change by becoming extremely empathetic like her mother and falling in love quick and recklessly like her mother. But she also begins to become her own person: stealing from convenience stores, lying to detectives and CPS officers, running guns, and murdering the man she believes is responsible for taking her mother away.
