Tourists are symbols of the colonial gaze over Indigenous communities. People tour the reserve because of romanticized, mythical stereotypes of Indigenous people in Westerns. The tourists at the Dead Dog Cafe also believe the stereotype that that Indigenous people eat dog, and thus are drawn in to the restaurant to affirm their biases.
