Why does Thomas betray Harry's group?

Bianca holds Justine hostage and promises Thomas that she will let him and Justine go if he puts down his weapon and refuses to fight alongside Harry and his companions. Thomas does so, apologizing to Harry, but Bianca goes back on her word and orders the vampires to kill them all, including Thomas.
