How does Bob help Harry while imprisoned in Bianca's mansion?

After escaping from his room, Harry finds another room where there is a pile ofrecently fed upon bodies. All his possessions are there, as well as Bob's skull. Bob explains that the vampires left Harry's things alone because Bob convinced them that Harry's possessions were booby-trapped, and would explode if tampered with.
