At the end of the novel, what happens between Harry and Susan?

Susan disappears, and Harry tracks her down and asks her to marry him. She says she can't because she has not returned to normal and isn't sure she can control herself around people. Harry spends all of his time in his lab trying to find a cure for her, and for his birthday, she sends him a card with only three words written on it.
