The Society of Venus symbolizes purpose. When Gabriella and Chloe first arrive at Hadley's apartment, they promise to help her grant her life meaning. Then they explain their work with the Society. Though its members are all unlicensed women, they find purpose and value helping separated mothers and children reunite and achieve asylum in other free nations. The Society grants Hadley the ability to imagine her worth outside the fate she has been assigned.
