Who is Ed from the nonfiction book, Good Morning, Monster?

Ed is a figure in Laura’s story of abuse. Ed is the boyfriend who gave Laura herpes. He lied to her about having herpes. Gildiner identifies Ed as being the same sort of man as Laura’s father, one who is willing to dump his problems on Laura and allow her to be his savior. Laura finally broke up with Ed when she discovered he was cheating on her.
