Who is Daniel from the novel, Gone So Long?

Daniel is a 63-year-old ex con who has lived a quiet isolated life since his release from prison. When Daniel was in his 20s, he stabbed his young wife Linda to death, convinced she had been unfaithful to him. Despite the heinous nature of his crime, Daniel only serves 15 years. Reluctant to move back to his hometown with his mother, Daniel buys a trailer on a large piece of property in the woods. He works as a driver for the elderly as well as a furniture restorer, primarily caning old chairs.
