Vucub-Kamé meaning

Vucub-Kamé represents stagnation and short-sightedness. This is ironic since he overthrew his brother for being stuck in the past rather than fixing Xiibalba’s problems. However, when he gains the throne, his selfishness and unwillingness to lose keep him from looking past himself. Because of this, Vucub-Kamé acts as a mirror to Martín. Both are terrified of losing their power, as both must learn to embrace change within themselves and accept their wrongdoings before finding a reason to live outside of their privilege.
