Cronos is noted for being so jealously competitive with his children over his wife that he tried to destroy them. He also feared them so much that he attacked them. One translation of this Cronos' name is Time. He is the father of Hera, Zeus and the other Olympians of that generation. Persephone is his granddaughter.
