Who is Allen Curry from Give a Boy a Gun and what is their importance?

Allen Curry is the principal of Middletown High School. When Brendan and Gary take over the dance, they shoot Allen Curry first. They also take away his walkie talkie, so that he can't call in other adults, teachers and administrators for help. Allen survives the shooting.
