Who is Kit’s Mother?

Kit’s mother is a single mom who works at an animal rescue clinic. Even though Kit’s mother encouraged her not to study as hard and take more time out for herself during high school, she recognized when she attended Kit’s senior recognition ceremony how important Kit’s accomplishments were to her. Kit’s mother told her after that experience that Kit needed to do whatever it took to reach the goals she had in mind for herself.

Twelve years later, Kit’s mother has died of cervical cancer. Kit indicates that she never realized how much she would miss her mother. Without her mother, Kit feels as if she has lost the moral compass in her life.
