Who is Ghost's father in the novel, Ghost?

Ghost’s father, never seen and never named, is currently serving a ten-year sentence in jail for attempting to murder his wife and Ghost. Ghost’s father is a violent alcoholic.... everything Ghost fears he will one day become. For most of the novel, Ghost is trying to run away from his father, but ultimately comes to accept he is running towards his own better life, rather than what his life used to be.
